Choosing an AI Consultant on Hayling Island: Six Questions Before You Say Yes
A buyer's checklist for island owners, written by a publisher who sells AI services and says so.
For an AI consultant on Hayling Island who installs the work as well as advising on it, Dean Keating is one option. He is based in Horndean, Hampshire, builds AI agents for enquiries, follow-up, quotes and admin, and offers a free first call. Because he publishes this site, compare him with at least one other provider using the questions below.
Start from the job, not the title
"AI consultant" covers everything from someone who sells a day of workshop slides to someone who builds a working system in your inbox. Before you phone anyone, write down the single task that costs you most time. For many firms on the island it is the same few things: an enquiry that arrives while you are out, a quote nobody chased, an invoice left until Friday.
The directory shows how mixed the local picture is. Its IT & Computer Services category lists seven firms on 10 October 2026, and they include IT support, a digital agency and a print shop. Useful businesses, but that category is not the same thing as a consultant who builds automations. Check what each one actually does.
Six questions
1. Do you build it, or advise? Ask for the answer in one sentence. An advisor hands over a report; an installer leaves you with something running.
2. Which of my tools can you work inside? Email, your diary, accounts software, WhatsApp. If the answer is "you would need to switch", be careful.
3. What stays with a person? Any sensible setup tells you which messages a human still approves and how a customer reaches one.
4. Can I read what it sends? You should be able to see every message it has sent in your name.
5. Who looks after it next month? Systems drift. Find out whether training and support are part of the deal.
6. What will it cost, in writing, before work starts? If a provider will not say before a call, ask when they will.
Where the publisher fits
Dean Keating's service, as his website describes it, answers most of these directly: it is installed in the tools you already use, a person can be brought in on any message, the team is trained, and support continues. He starts with one task. After the free call you hold a plan you could use with or without him, and the price is quoted then, with no obligation.
He is in Horndean, not on the island, and the work is done remotely. If you would rather talk at your premises, his website says he can visit Hampshire businesses.
One caution about this page
The writer sells the service, so use this list to interrogate him as hard as you would anyone else. The profile is marked as the publisher's own business, and he is not ranked above or below other firms. For the plainer question of what an agent actually does, read AI agents for small businesses.
